Sherry's Austin TX Real Estate Blog: Here is the Buzz.....

Here is the Buzz.....

WaspsHere is the Buzz… It is critter time! Spring is here and time to beware of bees. Especially be aware around the Foreclosure properties. Be careful when approaching the front door. They are making their nests and especially in vacant homes, no one is there to keep them sprayed or knocked down when the nests are being started.

Here in Texas we do have killer bees. A nest was found the size of a bowling ball at a foreclosure property here in Austin hanging from a tree in the yard. I know it probably wouldn’t be a bad idea to keep a can of wasp spray around. They generally spray around 20 feet away. But a nest that size can not be dealt with by you. Call in the professionals!Killer Bee Nest

We always hear things are bigger in Texas…so when someone asks if we have mosquito’s and how big do they get…I will tell them yes, and they are the size of buzzards! At least it feels that way when you get bitten!  So keep those bird baths and area’s that collect water dry. Check on your foreclosure vacant properties to keep them safe. And ask owners of vacant properties to do the same.

Killer BeeEnjoy the beautiful weather that is approaching…but stay safe. The wild flowers are blooming and that draws the bee's.  Let’s keep everyone safe!

Hi Sherry, Not sure we have the killer bees here in my area. On Sunday all kinds of bees & wasps were buzzing around me as I was trying to be productive in the yard.

Since I like to garden I try to do the quick dodge when I hear them!

You've got that right... crazy big bugs here. I particularly like the spiders.  I can get use to bees, but the spiders are a little big for me here.  Call me a baby... i dont care.  :-)

Sheldon-You know I would have my virtual pool boy keep that porch cleared off!

Cynthia-I know the killer bees are migrating, so be aware-but so many folks are allergic to just the normal bee sting.  I have been told I probably would be, just have never been stung. Hope I never do!

John-I have seen spiders in the country...OMG! You could have thrown a saddle on them almost!

Sherry, I'm not a fan of most insects!  I once entered a home teeming with wasps.  Luckily it was after dark and they weren't very active.  I would have died.  I jokingly tell everyone I'm deathly allergic to bees and wasps so they will understand when I run screaming.  Maybe the screaming is an exaggeration, but I do not like them.  Wherever we go, I'll handle the rats, mice and snakes, etc... my wife takes care of the spiders and stinging/flying bugs!!!

Brian-I don't like any of them...but I have a mouse phobia! Even though I might be allergic to bees..I think I would face a bee rather than a mouse. Crazy I know!

Cynthia-I couldn't find an office on Money Road....LOL!
