There is something in Austin for everyone! We have 3 lakes so fun in the sun is always just minutes away! But we can take a swim and soak up some rays at Barton Springs. The best swimming hole ever! Still swimming weather here!
We have great food of all kinds. Although Texas is probably know best for its BBQ, I am a huge Tex-Mex fan. My favorite place is Chuy's. They have the best Queso of anywhere I have been. You can watch while they make the best tortilla's. I haven't tried anything on the menu that I don't like. (Yes, I have tried everything on the menu!) They are probably known for their Jalapeño Ranch Dressing. (aka-Crack Jalapeño Ranch) It is addictive! You will just say give me a quart and a straw! It is good with the light and crunchy chips, dressing for a salad or used on taco's or anything else. They are known for the Elvis Chicken. Boneless Chicken Breast, coated in crushed potato chips, deep fried, with green chili sauce and cheese. If that is too spicy then try the shrimp tacos (my favorite). I love the Margarita's too!
We could party down on 6th street as we are the Live Music Capital! Maybe we can catch Willie playing in one of the bars...you never know who will be there!
While we are downtown, I love taking my friends to Esther's Follies. It is a live comedy show that is so hilarious! It is fast moving and packed with magic and comedy.

We have Zilker Park where practically every weekend something different is going on. Botanical Gardens, Bob Bullick Museum, or visit the Capital Building.
We have lots of shopping. Perhaps we could go to the Domain and visit Neiman Marcus, Prada, Louis Vuitton's and eat at some of the 5 star restaurants. How about Barton Creek Mall and hit Nordstroms?
How about the premier spa resort in Texas? Spa at Barton Creek is it. We can make a day of being pampered.... (I heard it was Sandra Bullocks choice of spa here.)
Bubba, this biker rally is for you! http://www.rotrally.com/ Starts June 2009-Mark your calendar!

Sherry-Austin sounds great and I love the pictures, especially the first one. Thanks for sharing.
Laura, Austin has some beautiful spots and hill country. If you are traveling down I35 through Austin you won't see it... (We keep it hidden-keeps out the riff-raff)
Sherry, I don't think ANYONE will deny Austin is a very cool place. Thanks for your highlights.
Gary-Thank you!
Sherry - Austin does sound great. I here you guys have one of the best real estate markets. And you can get alot bang for your buck! I have been to DFW but not to Austin, yet.
Tanya-We are better than most areas, but still very slow for us! Austin is very different than Dallas. More laid back. "Keep Austin Weird" is the motto!
Sherry, great job....and no Chippendales in season? Can't wait to see where we are going next....I think Tanya needs to get up on the highway to go to Greenville South Carolina....
I have driven by Austin and even stopped there once to see the capital (and UT). We were on our way to San Antonio at the time. We will certainly need to stay in Austin for a long weekend. thanks for sharing.
Nancy-They probably have them! I too am anxious to hear about everyone town too!
John-OHIO! Thank goodness no on took a shot at you! LOL! Yes, you will have to come back for another visit. Go west and northwest of the capital to see all the beautiful hill country and Lake Travis area. But downtown and Esthers Follies is a fun time!
Nancy - I am working it. Should have it post tomorrow.
Hi Sherry: I came to Austin 27 years ago just to 'check it out' and have been here ever since. You're right, there really is something for everyone here. And as you commented on my one of my blogs -- whoever chartered out our road names might have been a little drug or alcohol induced, and I suspect it was not a woman (no wrong intended guys) BTW: I enjoyed reading through some of your other blog posts
